Our Mission
To provide a clean and sober living environment that includes accountability and responsibility. With emphasis on education, vocation, spiritual formation and building life skills, our efforts are to empower women to become self-sufficient and lead productive lives.

Who We Are
The Oakland House of Ruth is a 501(c) 3, non-profit organization, sponsored by Acts Full Gospel Church, under the leadership of Bishop Bob Jackson. Oakland House of Ruth provides safe and structured transitional housing for a maximum of one-year. The transitional housing allows us to remove individuals from distressed situations and provide a sense of well being and stability in a Christian environment. Four apartments equipped with complete kitchens, two full baths, three bedrooms, and fully furnished. Oakland House of Ruth is dedicated in remembrance of Tanya Hill McCall, who was a victim of domestic violence. In her memory, our major objective is to assist women re-establish their lives, regain dignity, break the cycle which they are currently in and bring them into a closer relationship with God.

To qualify for our program

• Single women over the age of 18

• Source of income; GA/SSI/SDI accepted

• Clean and sober

• In school, employed or seeking employment

• Must attend 3 church services weekly

• Must submit to random drug testing

The Mentorship Program
The Mentorship Program is designed to identify women in distressed situations, offer refuge, counseling and healing in a Faith-based environment.  This will be accomplished through the following avenues:

Peer Counseling
Personal Counseling: One-on-One Meetings * Mentoring * Self-esteem/Character * Financial Stewardship
Group Rap Sessions: Crisis Management * Relapse Prevention Skills * Parenting Skills * Life Skills (such as healthy coping & physical health)

Employment/Vocational
Cover letter and Resume Writing * Professional * Development * Interview Techniques * Job Resources/Referrals * Computer Skills Training * Career/Educational * Opportunities and Advancements

Spiritual Foundation and Empowerment
Spiritual Foundation and Empowerment is incorporated throughout our Mentorship Program.  We offer various Self Empowerment/Disciple trainings, weekly Bible studies along with Spiritual support group meetings to help enhance women’s self esteem and awareness.  The Oakland House of Ruth is dedicated to the Ministry of promoting deliverance to the Mind, Body and Spirit through the study and teaching the Word of God.

We need your Financial Support!

A woman came to us broken in mind and spirit.  We desperately tried to help her but we did not have funds to hire the professional staff she needed.  She would leave the program out of frustration but kept coming back crying for help.  We tried to find professional volunteers but it was hard to get firm commitment.  Everything came to a head one day when she tried to take her life on the balcony of the Oakland House of Ruth.  It was at that point we realized that we also need to cry out for help.

We realized that we need to reach out to communities and ask for financial support to hire the professional staff needed to generate health change.  Professional staff such as Social Workers, Therapists, Counselors, Case Managers, etc.  We know that the Oakland House of Ruth has something that women like this one in the story want; love, nurturing, Spiritual empowerment, compassion, self-restoration and we realize that the clinical attributes are needed to make the program whole.  We are compelled that the Oakland House of Ruth touch every woman in the same way who come through its doors for help and contribute to the healing of their Mind, Body, and Spirit.  Will you help Oakland House of Ruth embrace broken women and facilitate healing toward being the person who God intended them to be?
