 Bishop Bob Jackson

Robert (Bob) L. Jackson was born in Berkeley, California in 1945. He attended Oakland public schools and graduated from Castlemont High School in 1963. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1963 and was honorably discharged in 1968.

He received an A.A. degree from Merritt College in 1970, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from California State University, at Hayward in 1973, a Masters Degree in Theology from the International Seminary in Plymouth, Florida and in May 1998 an Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree from the Sacramento Theological Seminar and Bible Institute, Sacramento, California.

He is also the author of "Church Building Though Evangelism" and "Cast the Devil Out."

"Bishop Bob" was called to pastor in 1984. He began Acts Full Gospel Church in Oakland, California with thirteen members. The church has grown to over 7,500 members and over thirty active ministries. The church's growth is a result of solid Bible teaching and the vision to "take Oakland for the Lord Jesus Christ" through personal evangelism.

During recent years, Bishop Jackson has taken the evangelism method of "the Seven Steps of the Kingdom" to pastors and churches across the nation (including Hawaii), The Caribbean and South America. The vision has now expanded to "taking the World for the Lord Jesus Christ".  Church growth/personal evangelism conferences are also hosted annually at Acts Full Gospel Church.

Bishop Jackson was consecrated as Auxiliary Bishop in the Church of God in Christ in April of 2004 and is the National Director of its Soul Winning Department.

In June, 2009, the Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake, appointed Bishop Jackson as their representative and Jurisdictional Bishop for the country of Mexico.

Under Bishop Jackson's leadership as Senior Pastor, Acts Full Gospel Church founded Acts Christian Academy in 1988, which is a school for pre-school to eighth grade (maximum of 289 students),

In 2002, the Church purchased a 166 acre camp, which is named The Anointed Acres Resort.  The facility can accommodate up to two hundred guests all with indoor housing.  Anointed Acres is located in  Ruth, California.

Bishop Jackson led the charge for Acts Full Gospel Church to have a  Teen Church for youth ages 13 to 18 years of age.  Services are held Sundays at 11:30 AM with special events and services on the fourth Friday and other activities as announced. Teen Church services and activities are conducted by the youth pastor and teen staff.

Bishop Jackson has been active not only in the ministry but also in community outreach.  In 2001, he founded the Men of Valor Academy for men who are high school dropouts and/or released from prison.  The goal of the Men of Valor Academy is to assist these men in getting their GEDs, pursuing higher education and training in construction trade skills to enable them to obtain employment and enter main stream society.  The Men of Valor Academy has a facility and dorm that enrolls up to eighty men.  After successfully completing the 12 to 18 month training program, the men can become apprentices with general contracting companies or other businesses.

Bishop Jackson is president of the Pastors of Oakland Association, which is comprised of approximately forty pastors who assemble to actively address the concerns and needs of the City of Oakland.  The Pastors of Oakland Association also partner with other ministerial alliances in Oakland and the Bay Area.  The Pastors of Oakland  bring the church outside of their sanctuaries with neighborhood assemblies for prayer, distribution of vital information, clothing, food and ministry assistance.

In 2003, Bishop Jackson founded the Oakland African American Chamber of Commerce (OAACC)  to organize African American businesses in Oakland.  The OAACC conducts business development seminars, business opportunity network gatherings, construction contractors forums and a weekly television broadcast to showcase the  businesses that are members of the OAACC..

On January 9, 2009, under Bishop Jackson's leadership, Acts Full Gospel Church opened the doors to a brand new restaurant in East Oakland named "Souls Restaurant."  The building was constructed with over twenty African American contractors and employed apprentices from the Men of Valor Academy under the supervision of the general contractor.

The restaurant is a  fine-dining Christian facility that can accommodate up to 174 patrons inside and 25 patrons for patio dining.  A banquet room can host events for up to forty guests.  The menu is tasty, nutritious soul food.  Souls Restaurant is located at 64th and Foothill Boulevard in Oakland, CA.  The restaurant has a staff of forty employees that includes  professional cooks..

A future outreach project is a clothing thrift shop to be constructed at 62nd Avenue and International Boulevard in East Oakland.  The thrift shop will employ members of the community who will learn job training skills that will prepare them for mainstream employment.  The thrift store is scheduled to open in the fall/winter of 2009.

Other community projects are in the planning stage and will be announced as developed.

Bishop Jackson is married to Charlene Jackson and has five children and twelve grandchildren.
